About
Founder Palmer Thompson-Moss integrates construction expertise with an inherent knack for designing transportive spaces.
Palmer has loved building for as long as he can remember. He became a facile woodworker at a young age, and learned carpentry while helping his uncle restore old houses in the Boston area. In 1998, he moved to New York City to work in a furniture shop, and later enrolled at Pratt Institute’s School of Architecture, which led him to Rome. There he developed a deep historical knowledge of architecture and a fascination with the Bauhaus and the Modern design canon. Palmer returned with a B. Arch and went to work with some of New York City’s top architecture firms, which gave him the opportunity to engage with all types of small-scale projects from design to completion.
In 2010, Palmer founded GDT on the insight that architecture is both a science and a socially beneficial art form. Today GDT designs, builds, and restores residential and commercial projects with a conviction that intelligent design improves the social and built environment.
